Samantha Fish Unleashes Powerful New Single “I’m Done Runnin’” from Upcoming Album Paper Doll

Samantha Fish, hailed as “a genuine force of sonic power” by Rolling Stone, has returned with an electrifying new single, I’m Done Runnin’. The track serves as the lead-off song from her forthcoming album, Paper Doll, set for release on April 25 via Rounder Records.

A Bold Statement of Strength and Self-Reliance

With her signature blend of raw emotion, blistering guitar work, and fearless lyricism, Fish delivers an anthem of resilience in I’m Done Runnin’. The song opens with a hypnotic, moody riff before launching into a soaring vocal performance that captures a sense of clarity and unshakable confidence. “When I look in the mirror, staring at the unknown / The world’s not getting clearer, but I like where I’m goin,’” she sings, underscoring the track’s theme of pushing forward despite adversity.

“It’s about moving forward even when life knocks you down, because you know what you want,” Fish explains. This unapologetic energy is the driving force behind Paper Doll, an album that showcases her ability to push artistic boundaries while maintaining deep emotional resonance.

Paper Doll: A New Chapter in Samantha Fish’s Evolution

Recorded between The Orb in Austin and Savannah Studios in Los Angeles, Paper Doll was crafted amid Fish’s relentless touring schedule. The result is a collection of nine songs that pulse with the energy of her live performances. “I’d never made a record on the road like that,” Fish shares. “Even though it was so intense, it felt good to keep up the momentum from the live show. It helped us make an album that’s got a real living, breathing pulse to it.”

Produced by Detroit garage-rock legend Bobby Harlow (The Go), with assistance from Mick Collins (The Gories) on one track, Paper Doll also features the talents of Fish’s touring bandmates Ron Johnson (bass), Jamie Douglass (drums), and Mickey Finn (keys). The result is a bold, neo-psychedelic blues rock record that Premier Guitar describes as capturing the “fantasias that can occur when Fish stretches out in concert.”

From Grammy Nominations to Rock Royalty

Fish’s previous album, Death Wish Blues (2023), catapulted her career to new heights, topping the Billboard Blues Chart, earning a Grammy nomination, and leading to major performances alongside legends like The Rolling Stones, Jon Spencer, and Slash. Now, with Paper Doll, she continues to expand her artistic reach, confronting themes of love, loss, and self-discovery while keeping her music unapologetically bold.
