Hollow Souls team up with Chris Tapp of The Cold Stares for new single ‘Bad Things’

Blues-rock supergroup Hollow Souls are back with their third single, Bad Things – a gritty, groove-laden track that sees the UK-based collective collaborating with Chris Tapp of American heavy blues trio The Cold Stares. The single is out now on all major streaming platforms.

Led by former MMA fighter-turned-rocker Kris Barras and longtime bandmate Josiah J Manning, Hollow Souls continue to build momentum with each new release. Following the punchy Borderline featuring Jared James Nichols and the thunderous Shotgun with Monster Truck’s Jon ‘Marv’ Harvey, Bad Things keeps the collaborative spirit alive, this time turning to one of the most distinctive voices in the modern blues-rock scene.

Tapp – known for his soulful guitar work, smoky vocal tone and songwriting credits on major video games and ad campaigns – co-wrote and recorded his parts remotely from Evansville, Indiana. The result is a tightly coiled, swamp-tinged duet that swaps verses between Tapp and Hollow Souls’ powerhouse vocalist Phoebe Jane, building towards a chorus packed with punch and swagger.

Barras explains, “I’ve admired Chris and The Cold Stares for a long time. We’ve been mates since meeting on Joe Bonamassa’s ‘Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea’ cruise, and I’ve been waiting for the right track to bring him in. As soon as this one came together, I knew he’d take it up ten notches.”

Tapp didn’t disappoint. Given full creative freedom over the verses, he delivered a moody counterpoint to Phoebe Jane’s commanding delivery – the track evolving into a true transatlantic blues-rock duet.

The single arrives hot on the heels of Hollow Souls’ live debut on the main stage at Maid of Stone Festival, where they played a well-received ‘secret set’. Now, the band is gearing up for a 20-date UK tour this autumn, with slide guitar maestro Troy Redfern announced as the special guest for every show. Known for his ferocious energy and stripped-back guitar-drum line-up, Redfern’s inclusion promises a double bill packed with fire and finesse.

Hollow Souls will also release their self-titled debut EP on Friday 10th October, available on 10” vinyl, CD and digital download. Featuring six tracks – including Borderline, Shotgun and Bad Things – the EP is now available to pre-order from shop.hollowsouls.co.uk.
