The Damn Truth have released ‘Killer Whale’, a new single taken from the forthcoming deluxe edition of their JUNO Award-nominated self-titled album.
Out now on all major streaming platforms, the track arrives with a new official music video and comes just days before the Canadian rock band begin their latest run of UK shows.
The Damn Truth (Deluxe Edition) will be released worldwide on 11 September 2026.
Produced by Bob Rock, whose credits include Metallica, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, ‘Killer Whale’ has already become a regular fixture in The Damn Truth’s live set.
The song began, fittingly enough, with a guitar riff.
“In true rock ’n’ roll fashion, ‘Killer Whale’ started with a banging guitar riff,” the band explain. “Screaming through the vintage amp, we knew we had something special with this song.”
Rock heard the same potential when the band recorded the track at The Warehouse Studios in Vancouver.
“The song itself is not about heartbreak. It’s about what gets left behind after all the noise has gone.”
A song built for the stage
While ‘Killer Whale’ forms part of the band’s studio catalogue, it has taken on another life in concert.
The Damn Truth regularly use the track early in their set, where its driving riff and sense of release help set the tone for the rest of the show.
“Night after night, all over the world, ‘Killer Whale’ gets the rock ’n’ roll party started early in the set, lighting the fire that burns through the full 90 minutes.”
The song now takes its place on the expanded edition of The Damn Truth, giving the band another release to carry into a packed second half of 2026.
The Damn Truth return to the UK
The Damn Truth begin their UK dates on Thursday, 27 August with a free acoustic appearance at the Gibson Garage in London.
The intimate session runs from 2pm to 2.30pm and is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
From there, the band head into a run of headline and festival dates, including Chester, Stonedead Festival, Bradford, Cardiff, Exeter, Milton Keynes, Bournemouth and Blackpool.
They return to the UK at the end of September as special guests on Europe’s The Final Countdown – 40th Anniversary Tour, opening shows in Glasgow, Wolverhampton and London before continuing across Europe.
