Live music, whisky, wildlife and world-class talent – all on the Isle of Arran this May
Scotland’s Isle of Arran is set to come alive with blues, rock, and soulful sounds this spring as the Arran Rock & Blues Festival returns for its fifth edition. Taking place Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th May 2025, this intimate and scenic celebration of live music unfolds in Brodick, just minutes from the island’s ferry terminal.
Nestled between dramatic mountains and the sea, Arran has long been dubbed “Scotland in Miniature” – and this festival is the perfect expression of that: big names, homegrown talent, fine whisky, local food, and a community spirit that’s as warm as it is welcoming.
A Festival with Soul – and a View
The festival’s main stage sits under a large marquee on Ormidale Park, with bonus acoustic sessions held at the nearby Brodick Golf Club. Whether you’re soaking up sun on the green or sheltering from a Highland drizzle with a dram in hand, this event delivers atmosphere in abundance.
Founded by Jane Howe of Lamlash’s Pierhead Tavern, the Arran Rock & Blues Festival was born from a passion for grassroots music and a desire to revive the kind of vibrant live scene that once saw bands like Thin Lizzy and Slade grace the island.
Now in its fifth year, the festival continues that legacy by blending top-tier blues and rock names with rising Scottish talent – all in one of the most picturesque locations you’ll ever see a guitar solo.
Who’s Playing?
This year’s line-up features UK blues favourites Chantel McGregor, Krissy Matthews, and UK Blues Challenge winner Alice Armstrong, plus a transatlantic twist from the Tommy Bentz Band (USA). Also joining the weekend are Blue Milk, Rigid Soul, Bison Hip, Lynsey Dolan Band, Kelowna, and many more.
The weekend includes a tribute to Thin Lizzy from the Midlands’ T’int Lizzy, a celebration of The Allman Brothers Band, and a finale set from Queenesque, one of the UK’s most in-demand Queen tribute acts.
There will also be guitar masterclasses with Krissy Matthews and Tommy Bentz – a rare chance to learn from two of the finest blues-rock players working today.
A True Island Experience
Beyond the music, the 2025 festival offers the full Arran experience:
- Artisan markets showcasing local makers
- Award-winning island whisky and beer
- Onsite camping and campervan spots (pre-booking essential)
- Family-friendly atmosphere and warm island hospitality
Add in two medieval castles, world-class wildlife, and some of Scotland’s best scenery, and it’s clear why this is fast becoming one of the UK’s most unique music festivals.
