Sari Schorr announces new album ‘Running Wild’ and shares ‘Mr. In The Middle’

Sari Schorr will release her new studio album, Running Wild, through Provogue / Artone Label Group on 9 October 2026 in Europe and 30 October in the USA.

The announcement is accompanied by the first single, ‘Mr. In The Middle’, while Schorr will also support the album with an extensive European tour beginning in September.

A special UK album launch show takes place at The Lexington in London on Tuesday, 29 September.

For Schorr, Running Wild represents both a personal milestone and a clearer sense of who she is as an artist.

“I’ve reached a deeper understanding of who I am as an artist,” she says. “I’m still searching and learning, but I trust my instincts more and follow each song to its emotional truth.”

The album explores themes of defiance, resilience, self-discovery and transformation, drawing together the soul, blues, jazz and rock influences that have shaped Schorr throughout her career.

‘Mr. In The Middle’ explores attraction and indecision

The first single, ‘Mr. In The Middle’, focuses on the tension between two people caught between attraction and commitment.

Schorr describes it as a song about the pull between two people who cannot quite let each other go, even when one is ready to move forward and the other remains uncertain.

“The chemistry is real, but while one is ready to commit, the other keeps moving between desire and distance,” she explains.

That emotional push and pull sits neatly within the wider themes of Running Wild, an album Schorr says was shaped by learning to trust her instincts and let go of judgement.

“I think the album title captures something essential in me,” she says. “I’m drawn to that place where vulnerability and strength exist side by side.”

From New York to the international blues stage

Born in New York City, Schorr initially trained in classical music before turning towards the emotional directness of artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey.

Her early musical education continued in the South Bronx, where she began to understand the possibilities of blending different styles rather than remaining tied to a single genre.

That approach would later become central to her own songwriting, with soul, blues and jazz regularly woven into a classic rock foundation.

Her solo career took a major step forward in 2016 when producer Mike Vernon came out of retirement to work on debut album A Force of Nature.

That was followed by Never Say Never in 2018 and Live in Europe in 2020. Schorr later joined Robin Trower for his 2023 album Joyful Sky, providing vocals across the record.

A new chapter with ‘Running Wild’

For the new album, Schorr assembled a studio team featuring co-producer Jamie Walker on guitar and bass, drummer Luke Paget and keyboard player Bennett Holland.

“They’re incredible musicians, and the inspiration we felt when we entered the studio was electric,” says Schorr.

The sessions helped produce what she describes as the album she had wanted to make throughout her career.

Running Wild is the album I’ve dreamt of making all my life,” she says. “It feels like a defining moment for me, and I don’t say that lightly.”
