A Band on a Mission
The Damn Truth have been electrifying audiences across the UK and Europe for the past four years, earning a reputation as one of the most exciting rock acts on the scene. Their new album, produced once again by the legendary Bob Rock (Motley Crüe, The Offspring, Bon Jovi), marks the culmination of over a decade of relentless touring and recording.
With two Top 40 Canadian Active Rock singles, Love Outta Luck and I Just Gotta Let You Know, the band continues to refine their signature sound. Bob Rock’s production takes their music to new heights, highlighting the raw power of Lee-la Baum’s vocals on the Zeppelin-esque The Willow, the soul-stirring Better This Way, and the socially charged The Dying Dove.
Creating a Rock & Roll Masterpiece
The album was recorded over two months at Bryan Adams’ Warehouse Studios in Vancouver—Bob Rock’s favourite recording space. Known for its classic, larger-than-life drum sound (AC/DC had just wrapped sessions before The Damn Truth arrived), the studio provided the perfect setting for the band’s live, organic approach to recording. Unlike their previous LP, Now or Nowhere (2021), which was limited by pandemic restrictions, this album was 100% produced and mixed by Bob Rock with complete creative freedom.
“When I hear you guys, I feel the spirit of Led Zeppelin I,” Bob Rock told the band. “Let’s make a record like that—playing together, live, feeding off each other’s energy. That’s rock ‘n’ roll.”
The Damn Truth seized the opportunity, with Rock guiding them through a fresh approach to songwriting. Drummer Dave Traina shares: “Bob is known for massive bass and drum sounds, but with us, he was more focused on lyrics and melody. He had us strip each song back to just acoustic guitar and vocals before building it up.”
Bassist PY Letellier adds: “Working with Bob this time around brought new layers to our music that we hadn’t explored before.”
The Damn Truth Take Over 2025
The Damn Truth’s reputation as a must-see live band continues to grow. Their last album caught fire in the UK and Europe, earning airplay on over 70 stations, including Planet Rock and BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show. Their festival run in July 2024 saw them make a breakthrough appearance at Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi in Romania, where they were invited back due to overwhelming demand.
Their relentless touring schedule continues, with a return to the UK in November for festival and club dates. But first, they’ll embark on the sold-out Rock Legends Cruise this February alongside Alice Cooper, Styx, Burton Cummings, John Waite, and Jason Bonham. A recent career highlight includes Lee-la Baum performing as part of Rush’s Alex Lifeson’s all-star charity concert at Massey Hall in Toronto.
