New Brunswick Battle of the Blues – 6 acts nationwide through to the final

The UK-wide search for the best in original and unsigned blues talent reaches its climax on the 26th March when six blues acts go head to head at the final at London venue, Scala, Kings Cross. Winners from 5 regional heats plus a ‘Judges’ Choice’ will perform at an electrifying night of the best of British blues. All blues fans are welcome to attend.

The line-up for the final is: David Migden & the Dirty Words from Tunbridge Wells (winners of the Southern heat), Dove & Boweevil Band from Norwich (winners of the South East heat), Street Corner Blues from Carlisle (winners of the North East heat), Laurence Jones Band from Shipston-on-Stour (winner of the North West heat), The Boston Tea Party from Dundee (Scottish heat) and the Judges’ Choice is Ben Smith from Sawston near Cambridge.

This is the third year the competition has been held, with the Canadian Province of New Brunswick looking to the UK to provide new performers for its world-renowned Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. The winning act from the final will be taken on an all-expenses paid trip to the beautiful maritime province of New Brunswick to perform on one of the main stages at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in the province’s capital of Fredericton in September 2013. They will also get the chance to experience some of the world’s best whale watching, sea kayaking, breath-taking scenery and very importantly – real New Brunswick hospitality.

Says competition organiser, Lee George, “We’re coming to the end of what’s been a fantastic competition and this year the talent has been outstanding. The winning act will find that travelling to New Brunswick will be a fabulous experience – performing on a world stage and sampling all ‘the jewel of Atlantic Canada’ has to offer.”

The first act of the final takes to the stage at 8pm and tickets are £7 in advance. Tickets are available from www.ticketweb.co.uk and all proceeds of the evening will go to our chosen charity for this year – Youth Music.
