Multi-award-winning guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Sunjay will hit the road this winter for a twelve-date headline tour across the UK. The run supports his latest album I’m Just Like You, released on Mighty Tight Records and available now on all platforms.
The fifteen-track album is Sunjay’s heartfelt tribute to songwriter Chris Smither, featuring his interpretations brought to life by an outstanding studio band. The sessions included drummer and bassist Josh Clark from Kate Rusby’s band, Jonny Henderson on keys, Katriona Gilmore and Charlie Barker on backing vocals, and harmonica player Lee Southall.
The new tour will take Sunjay back into a series of intimate venues throughout November and December, offering fans a close-up night of blues, folk, country and warm storytelling. While his immaculate appearance might contrast with the denim-and-dust image of traditional blues artists, the moment Sunjay begins to sing and play, the room is carried to the humid deep south. His music blends folk and blues with effortless ease, driven by masterful fingerpicking and sonorous vocals.
From childhood performances to growing into one of the UK’s most respected acoustic guitarists, Sunjay has built a reputation for charisma, technical brilliance and a wicked sense of humour. His shows are known for their mix of musical craft and easy-going conversation, creating an atmosphere that feels welcoming and utterly absorbing.
