Sari Schorr releases ‘Running Wild’ ahead of new album and European tour

Sari Schorr has released ‘Running Wild’, the title track from her forthcoming album, ahead of an extensive 46-date European tour beginning in London later this month.

The New York singer-songwriter’s new album Running Wild will be released on 9 October in Europe and 30 October in the USA through Provogue Records / Artone Label Group.

Following first single ‘Mr. In The Middle’, the new track goes straight to the heart of the album’s themes, exploring desire, freedom and what can happen when love begins to feel like possession.

“‘Running Wild’ is about the tension between desire and control, wanting someone intensely without trying to contain them,” Schorr explains.

“Passion needs freedom to stay alive; hold it too tightly, and you risk suffocating the very thing that drew you in.”

The song that started the album

‘Running Wild’ has particular significance for Schorr because it was the first song written for the new record.

“I was in an intensely prolific period when we began writing the album,” she says. “‘Running Wild’ was the first song we wrote, and it struck the match for everything that followed.”

That initial session helped define the direction of the entire record.

“There was an electricity in the studio, a sense that we had opened a door and had to follow wherever it led.”

Schorr describes Running Wild as one of the most personal records she has made, built around self-discovery, resilience, defiance and transformation.

“There’s a moment when you stop trying to fit the shape the world has made for you and start listening to the person you’ve been becoming all along,” she says.

“I’ve reached a deeper understanding of who I am as an artist. I’m still searching and learning, but I trust my instincts more now and worry less about whether a song is behaving itself.”

Capturing the feeling rather than the story

The title track is accompanied by a new music video, although the finished version came after an earlier attempt was abandoned.

“The first version of the ‘Running Wild’ video never made it out of the gate,” says Schorr.

For the second shoot, she worked with videographer Kee Koo and took a much less literal approach.

“Instead of trying to tell the story too literally, we wanted to capture the feeling of ‘Running Wild’, desire, freedom, danger and that irresistible pull towards someone you know you may never be able to hold on to.”

Rather than planning every frame, Schorr says much of the shoot was allowed to happen naturally.

“We chased the atmosphere more than perfection. A lot of what happened on camera wasn’t overly planned.”

That instinctive approach reflects the wider philosophy behind the album itself, with Schorr increasingly comfortable following songs wherever they lead rather than worrying about whether they fit a particular musical expectation.

Following ‘Mr. In The Middle’

The album’s first single, ‘Mr. In The Middle’, explored another complicated relationship, this time between two people unable to fully let go of each other.

“The chemistry is real, but while one is ready to commit, the other keeps moving between desire and distance, pulling closer, then pushing away before it becomes too real,” Schorr says.

Together, the two singles begin to reveal an album that looks closely at freedom, love, identity and the compromises people make within relationships.

For Schorr, however, Running Wild represents something larger than any individual song.

“Running Wild is the album I’ve dreamt of making all my life,” she says. “It feels like a defining moment for me, and I don’t say that lightly.”

46-date European tour starts in London

Schorr will take the album on the road almost immediately, beginning an extensive European tour at The Lexington in London on 29 September.

From there she heads through Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czechia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.
