Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar will release their new live album A Beautiful Buzz on 22 May 2026 via Gypsy Soul Records.
Captured during the band’s 2022 Love Is All Around tour across Western Canada, the album documents the onstage intensity that has defined the group for more than a decade. The CD and limited edition gatefold double vinyl are available through the band’s official store, with the digital edition streaming on all major platforms.
The first single, “My Crown,” offers an early glimpse into the record’s live energy. The performance leans into the band’s gospel-infused soul sound, driven by horns, grit and Samantha Martin’s commanding vocal delivery.
A two-time JUNO Award nominee and seven-time Canadian Blues Award nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year, Samantha Martin has built a reputation as one of Canada’s most powerful live performers. Backed by Delta Sugar, her voice carries both weight and restraint, rooted in classic soul tradition but delivered with modern force.
The live recordings were mixed by Renan Yildizdogan and Ross Hayes Citrullo at Gypsy Soul Records. Rather than polishing the performances, the production keeps the edge intact. Horn sections swell, rhythms push forward, and the crowd energy remains part of the experience.
The tour itself unfolded under difficult circumstances. Originally scheduled for January 2022, it was delayed by COVID-era restrictions and eventually launched in November. By then, Martin was six months pregnant. Undeterred, the band travelled west from Saskatoon toward the coast, performing night after night in sub-zero conditions before reaching warmer venues on the West Coast.
One final show stood apart. The atmosphere, shaped by exhaustion, anticipation and change, carried a heightened emotional charge. That performance became A Beautiful Buzz.
Musically, the album sits firmly in the lineage of large-scale soul revues. Listeners may hear echoes of classic soul and gospel traditions, but the delivery remains direct and unfiltered. It is not a tidy live souvenir. It captures a band working at full capacity.
