New album Black & Gold out June 6 via Journeyman Records
British blues-rock standout Joanne Shaw Taylor has released her latest single “Look What I’ve Become” — a haunting, emotionally charged reflection on addiction, isolation, and the pivotal moment of personal reckoning. Out now via Journeyman Records, the track blends smouldering blues with cinematic drama, anchored by Joanne’s signature guitar tone and raw vocal honesty.

“This one’s about hitting that crossroads,” says Joanne. “It’s about the moment where you either change everything or disappear. The lyrics came from a very honest place—and I wanted the music to match that intensity.”
A Soundtrack for the Soul
With its shadow-drenched, minor-key guitar work and soul-baring lyrics, Look What I’ve Become evokes the brooding elegance of a Bond theme — but this one hits close to the bone. Lines like “My bones have grown so old, the world is only cold” and “Don’t miss me when I’m gone / I’m nothing now but numb” tap into a deep emotional current rarely expressed so directly in the genre.
The song marks another standout moment in the build-up to Joanne’s much-anticipated new album, Black & Gold, due out June 6, 2025.
A New Chapter with Black & Gold
Produced by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Journey, Black Crowes), Black & Gold is shaping up to be Joanne’s boldest release yet. With elements of cinematic blues, rock swagger, soul, and confessional storytelling, the album pushes her sound into new territory while staying rooted in the expressive blues traditions she’s known for.
