Blues-rock fans are in for a treat this Record Store Day as acclaimed guitarist Laurence Jones unveils a unique collaboration with the legendary Rory Gallagher. Set for release on Saturday 12th April 2025, this special edition 12″ vinyl features brand new recordings of two Gallagher classics — Bad Penny and Follow Me — blending Laurence’s modern edge with Rory’s original studio performances.
Issued as a double A-side and presented in striking gatefold packaging with a printed inner sleeve, the release is more than a celebration of vinyl culture — it’s a heartfelt tribute to one of blues-rock’s most influential figures. Laurence Jones, who has long cited Rory Gallagher as a key inspiration, channels that admiration into a release that connects past and present with reverence and energy.
This latest project lands as Jones continues his “Rockin’ The Grassroots Tour” across the UK, championing grassroots venues in support of the Music Venue Trust. His schedule also includes appearances at the Rory Gallagher International Festival in Ballyshannon, Ireland, on 31st May and 1st June — a fitting stage for honouring the man whose music helped shape his own.
The Record Store Day release will be available from participating independent stores across the UK, Ireland, and several European countries including Germany, Sweden, Spain, and the Netherlands. With additional tour dates in the Netherlands confirmed for May, fans across Europe will have ample opportunity to see Laurence Jones in action.
