The sun-baked streets of Kentucky are about to heat up even more as the state’s own renegade rockers, Mojo Thunder, prepare to unleash their sophomore album, “The Infinite Hope.” Set for release on August 30, 2024, the album promises to be a sonic journey through the heart of what the band calls “Southern Alternative.”
Today marks the debut of “Let It Fall,” the third single from the upcoming album. The track, available now on all streaming platforms, is accompanied by an official music video that’s already creating buzz among fans and critics alike.
“Let It Fall” is more than just a song; it’s a raw, emotional exploration of love and loss. Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Sean Sullivan explains, “It’s about personal mistakes that lead to losing someone you’re in love with. We’re looking at the idea that sometimes, you need to let go of the old to make room for something new, maybe even something better.”
The song’s creation was a collaborative effort, with guitarist Bryson Willoughby and drummer Zac Shoopman also contributing to the writing process. Willoughby, who came up with the title, sees the song as an anthem of self-forgiveness. “We often deny ourselves grace in our lowest moments,” he reflects. “This song is about accountability, forgiveness, and giving yourself permission to let go and move forward.”
For Shoopman, crafting “Let It Fall” was an exercise in musical restraint. “It was about playing only what’s necessary,” he says. “The way everything weaves together and climaxes into the final chorus feels great.” He also contributed a poetic touch to the lyrics, drawing inspiration from the cosmos. “The idea that we’re all just a bit of evolved cosmic debris is fascinating to me,” he muses. “That’s where the line about being dust from a star came from.”
“The Infinite Hope” isn’t just another album for Mojo Thunder; it’s a milestone in their musical journey. Bassist Andrew Brockman notes, “We’ve tapped into something I don’t think we were capable of a few years ago. It’s been awesome to grow as musicians and people with this group.”
The album, produced by the renowned Duane Lundy (known for his work with Ringo Starr and Sturgill Simpson), delves into a wide range of themes. From activism and tragedy to love and the search for truth, each track tells a story. Lundy speaks warmly of the recording process, emphasizing the band’s commitment to authenticity and emotional depth. “The lyrics are thoughtful and meaningful,” he says, “something that I feel is often slighted in current rock material.”
As Mojo Thunder prepares to share “The Infinite Hope” with the world, they’re not just releasing an album; they’re extending an invitation. An invitation to join a community built on acceptance, to find belonging in the music, and to embrace hope in all its infinite forms.
For fans eager to get their hands on the album, digital pre-orders are available now, with the full digital release set for August 16, 2024. Physical copies on CD and vinyl will hit stores on August 30, 2024. As the release date approaches, the anticipation builds, not just in Kentucky, but wherever rock and roll still has a home in people’s hearts.
