The Julian Piper Memorial Festival, to be held at The Exeter Phoenix on Sunday 10th October 2021, is an all day festival of Blues & Roots to celebrate and remember the extraordinary life of Topsham born British blues guitarist, writer, promoter and record producer Julian Piper.

Described in The Guardian as ‘one of the UK’s foremost champions of African-American blues’, Julian not only played alongside leading US blues musicians but produced, recorded, toured and promoted their concerts in the UK and Europe. He was also an accomplished music journalist, interviewing the likes of BB King, Bonnie Raitt, Kings of Leon to name but a few, as well as having his book ‘Blues from the Bayou’ published in 2016, which documents his time spent in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Both of Julian’s children are professional musicians, and will be performing with various acts throughout the day, making it a particularly special day.
