JOOLS HOLLAND – Live at Victoria Hall

HANLEY-STOKE-ON-TRENT / NOVEMBER 8TH

When Jools Holland rolls into town with his Rhythm And Blues Orchestra, even on a damp night in November, it puts a huge smile on my face. This is the ninth year in a row seeing Jools at this iconic venue, a venue that was built purely for music. The Rhythm And Blues Orchestra, as a collective, is nothing short of remarkable, acting as both a backing band and equal collaborator.

With special guests such as Imelda May, Louise Marshall, Sumunda Jayatilaka, and the Queen of Boogie, Ruby Turner, the evening was filled with Gospel, Soul, and Blues. As each of the special guests had entertained the audience with their artistry, with Jools Holland playing the perfect accompaniment each time. Songs like, Please Forgive Me, and Peace In The Valley, performed by Ruby Turner, brought tears to my eyes.

Very emotional, full of feeling and grace. If you miss Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, you are doing yourself a disservice. Go and see these cats, they are the ones with the cream.
