The name John Mayall is now and will forever be uttered with utmost reverence and respect among blues music aficionados. The man practically launched the British blues rock explosion of the ‘60s with his band John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, which became the proving ground for everyone from a young up-and-comer Strat-slingin’ phenom going by the name of Eric Clapton as well as Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green & John McVie, Cream’s Jack Bruce and numerous others.

But Mayall had enough juice of his own to fly solo as well both on stage and in the studio, and his many solo albums prove just that. For starters, check out the superb 1980 album Mayall released, Road Show Blues. The album combines the best of Mayall’s qualities – original songs, soulful vocals, and of course fiery guitar playing. This brilliant set is now being reissued with revamped artwork featuring vintage photos in both a CD digipak as well as a limited-edition gatefold jacket with RED MARBLE vinyl!
