Connor Selby Shares New Single “Someone” and Marks a Major Step in His Rise

Heartfelt new track highlights a breakthrough year for the fast-rising UK singer-songwriter

UK blues and roots troubadour Connor Selby has released his brand-new single “Someone”, out now via Provogue Records. The release follows the huge success of his self-titled 2023 album — a MOJO Album of the Year — and marks the beginning of what is already shaping up to be Selby’s biggest year yet.

A Moment of Sunshine Through the Clouds

Selby’s music has always been steeped in authenticity and emotional honesty, and “Someone” is no exception. Set against a heart-fluttering groove of swirling Hammond organs, dancing guitar solos, and a rich horn section, the song celebrates the rare magic of finding a genuine connection with someone who truly accepts you.

“Someone is about celebrating the joy of finding a genuine connection with a person who really understands you,” says Selby. “It’s about how love can help you weather the bad times in life and find peace and acceptance within yourself.”

The track captures an uplifting, soulful moment that feels like it could have come straight from the golden age of Stax Records.

Finding His Place – and His Voice

For Selby, who has always grappled with feelings of being an outsider, music became the medium to express his search for belonging. Influenced by the rootsy authenticity of artists like Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr., and Ray LaMontagne, Selby’s voice cuts straight to the soul – full of raw emotion and a deep yearning for connection.

With a career already featuring performances at Wembley Stadium (supporting The Who), Hyde Park alongside Pearl Jam and Stereophonics, the London Palladium with Beth Hart, and collaborations with legends like Mark Knopfler, Selby is carving out his place among contemporary blues and roots greats.

His expressive guitar playing recently earned him a spot on Knopfler’s all-star charity single “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero),” joining a line-up including Bruce Springsteen, Slash, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour.

What’s Next for Connor Selby?

Already heralded by BBC Radio 2’s Cerys Matthews, Selby’s music continues to find new fans with every release. As he builds momentum into 2025, expect to see his name shining even brighter on festival stages, support slots, and, undoubtedly, many more headline tours of his own.

“When you wear your heart on your sleeve, it’s not always easy,” he says. “But it’s the only way I know how to make music.”

“Someone” is available to stream now across all major platforms.
