Ross Harding brings Dark Blues to Lowestoft

South African-born guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Ross Harding will bring his Dark Blues sound to The Seagull Theatre in Lowestoft on Sunday 15 November as part of his ongoing Blues Shadows 2026 UK Tour.

The UK-based musician will perform an afternoon matinee beginning at 2.30pm, returning to Suffolk after a busy year of live performances, interviews and radio exposure. Harding’s music draws on blues and blues-rock while bringing in heavier influences from classic rock and grunge, resulting in a sound that he has increasingly defined under the Dark Blues banner.

The Lowestoft appearance takes place at The Seagull, a community theatre in Pakefield run largely by volunteers and supported by three permanent members of staff. Alongside its programme of theatre, classes and community events, the venue regularly hosts live music and touring performers.

A darker approach to the blues

Harding was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is now based in the UK. Over the past decade he has developed a live career that ranges from stripped-back solo acoustic performances to heavier electric band shows, giving him considerable freedom to move between different sides of his music.

His Blues Shadows performances sit between those two extremes, combining acoustic and electric elements with an emphasis on atmosphere, dynamics and the darker character of his songwriting. That approach has helped Harding develop a distinctive identity within contemporary blues-rock rather than simply leaning on more traditional blues formats.

Reviewing Harding’s work, Andy Sharrocks of Get Ready To Rock highlighted “the primal and primitive feel of his songs, his voice and his playing”, while Ross Muir of Fabrications HQ praised the way ‘Me & Lucifer’ takes a traditional blues style and gives it “a darker, modern edge”.

A busy year for Harding

The Lowestoft show follows a year that has seen Harding continue to build his profile through live appearances and radio support. His music has received airplay including BBC Radio 2’s The Blues Show, WDNF Philly and Rock Radio UK, while he has also appeared in interviews with Blues In Britain, Suffolk Sound Radio, The Edward Fowler Show and Celeb Savant.

Harding continues to perform in several configurations, allowing his songwriting and guitar playing to take a different shape depending on the venue and setting. The Seagull performance offers another chance to hear that approach in a smaller room, with the afternoon format providing an intimate setting for the Blues Shadows live experience.
