Southern California roots-rock band Robert Jon & The Wreck continue to tease their forthcoming album Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes with the release of their latest single, I Wanna Give It, out now via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records.
Written during the long pause in touring brought on by the pandemic, I Wanna Give It is a warm, reflective song rooted in friendship, love, and the kind of emotional honesty that often emerges late at night with an acoustic guitar in hand. Lead guitarist Henry James recalls the inspiration: “It was a bit of a throwback. We’d play acoustic guitars into the early hours, doing whatever we could to keep our minds at ease.”
Co-written with Ian Cullen and Shane Krevoy – the same team behind fan favourite Oh Miss Carolina – the track captures the free-spirited nature of love that dares to leap before it looks. “It doesn’t necessarily have a happy ending,” says James, “but it’s told with no regrets. Love can blind us sometimes, but it can also inspire us to live boldly. That’s something we all deserve to feel.”
Produced by Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb and recorded in Savannah, Georgia, I Wanna Give It leans into the band’s country-rock sensibilities while staying true to their soulful, Southern-inflected roots. The production brings a lived-in warmth to the track, balanced with the polish and presence of a seasoned touring band. The single joins an already rich lineup of songs from the upcoming record, including Keep Myself Clean, Dark Angel, Better Of Me, Highway, and Ashes in the Snow.
Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes is due out 22 August 2025 on CD, digital platforms, and limited edition coloured vinyl, with exclusive merch bundles also available.
Known for their explosive live shows and relentless touring, Robert Jon & The Wreck recently wrapped a European tour with standout performances at Hookrock Festival and Amsterdam’s Melkweg. They return to the US this August for headline dates and appearances at Fargo Blues Festival, Telluride Blues and Brews, and more. A full autumn tour is expected to be announced shortly.
With each new track, Robert Jon & The Wreck continue to expand their sound and emotional range, offering a deeply felt exploration of love, loss, and everything in between.
