Decades-Long Career
Between Time comes as a milestone in Louw’s extensive career, which began in the 1990s. Back then, Louw fronted Big Sky, a band that garnered significant acclaim in South Africa with the help of record producer Kevin Shirley. After a decade-long hiatus, Louw made a triumphant return in 2021 with his solo album Headlight Dreams. Shirley, instrumental in bringing Louw back into the studio, gathered a stellar band featuring keyboardist Kevin McKendree, drummer Greg Morrow, bassist Alison Prestwood, and guitarists Rob McNelley and Doug Lancio.
Headlight Dreams was met with critical acclaim and earned Louw his third South African Music Award nomination. Following this success, Louw released Thunder and Rain, an album that seamlessly blended folk and rock elements, further showcasing his refined musical style.
