GUITARIST MCKINLEY JAMES TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘WORKING CLASS BLUES’

McKinley James is set to release his debut album, “Working Class Blues,” on June 7th, with the first single and video, “She Moved On,” already available. Pre-save the single here.

McKinley James brings a unique blend of American rock and roll, soul, and rhythm and blues to his debut album. Inspired by a mix of classic sounds and modern influences, McKinley’s music breathes new life into traditional genres.

Joined by his father and longtime bandmate, drummer Jason Smay, McKinley delivers a fresh take on blues-inspired rock duos, reminiscent of acts like the White Stripes. Their music combines Motown hooks with roadhouse boogie-woogie, rewriting the rulebook for American roots music.

Recorded authentically in their family barn studio, McKinley and Jason captured the album’s raw energy over three days using analog gear and minimal microphones. McKinley’s vintage ’54 Stratocaster and Jason’s 1970 Ludwig drum set set the tone for a genuine, unfiltered recording experience.

Raised in a music-filled household in upstate New York, McKinley’s early influences ranged from Stax to disco to ’80s R&B. Under his father’s guidance, McKinley honed his skills not only on guitar but also in singing and songwriting, encouraged to make music that reflects his own experiences and identity.

Since relocating to Nashville as a teenager in 2017, McKinley has quickly made a name for himself, appearing on notable albums and kickstarting his performance career. His upcoming album, “Working Class Blues,” co-written with industry talents like Dan Auerbach, promises an eclectic mix of American music, reflecting universal themes with a fresh, contemporary twist.

“Working Class Blues” isn’t just another blues record—it’s a testament to McKinley James’s journey and promise as a rising star, blending the best of old-school charm with a new-school edge. Stay tuned for his debut album release on June 7th.
