Described by music experts as their most eagerly awaited album collection to date, “Rebel’s Journey” marks the second installment of the Rebel’s trilogy. Collaborating once again with renowned producer Mark Stuart and studio engineer Sheena Sear at M2 Studios, the band is set to deliver their third studio album.
“Living on Borrowed Time” embodies a powerful rock vibe while maintaining the essence of blues, showcasing Big Wolf Band’s signature sound. Guitarist and lead singer, Jonathan Earp, shares, “This song delves into the struggle with depression and the feeling of living on borrowed time. It reflects the battle against negative thoughts and the constant fear of the next episode.”
Clocking in at 3:45, “Living on Borrowed Time” bears the IRSC code UKJRC2400015.
“Rebel’s Journey” is not only a testament to the band’s musical evolution but also to frontman Jonathan Earp’s personal growth. Known for their electrifying live performances and diverse range of self-written blues rock songs, Big Wolf Band stands out for their unique musical identity. “Rebel’s Journey” showcases the band’s creativity, musicianship, and versatility, with each track possessing its own distinct character yet retaining the unmistakable Big Wolf sound.
The album’s lead single, “Empire and a Prayer,” sets the pace with its high-energy, riff-based guitar work and hints of southern rock and Americana. The track serves as an ode to escapism and pays homage to a supportive friend. Featuring backing vocals by Zoe Green, “Empire and a Prayer” demonstrates the band’s ability to seamlessly navigate through various musical styles while maintaining their rock edge.
Jonathan Earp reflects on the album’s thematic depth, stating, “’Rebel’s Journey’ reflects my personal struggles with mental and physical health, particularly my battle with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (HEDS). Tracks like ‘Standing in the Rain,’ ‘Black Dog Blues,’ and ‘Living on Borrowed Time’ delve into the challenges I faced during dark times.”
In 2024, Big Wolf Band celebrates a decade together as a band, marking a significant milestone in their journey. From humble beginnings as a 3-piece outfit to their current 5-piece lineup, the band’s growth is evident in their expansive sound. As they embark on their largest headline tour to date, including dates in Germany and the Czech Republic, “Rebel’s Journey” serves as a fitting tribute to their enduring spirit and musical legacy.
