Joint Statement from PapaMojo and The Scottish Blues Alliance
At the start of 2012 Billy “the Blindman” Allardyce longtime drummer with PapaMojo, Blues Hall of Fame inductee, organiser of The Dundee Blues Bonanza, Chair of The Scottish Blues Alliance and Administrator of the largest Internet Blues Forum was being treated with antibiotics for a chest and inner ear infection and still playing gigs.
During February, after tests at A.R.I. it was discovered that he did not have a chest or ear infections. In fact he had 2 tumours , one on the cortex of his brain the other on his right lung. Both are malignant and both are inoperable.
In typical response to this news Billy decided to hold a Sponsored Head Shave in favour of The Macmillan Cancer Support Charity, his longtime friend Bass Player and Dance Caller Bryan A. Low of Ceilidh Mor has decided to join in with a Head Shave also.
Billy has also organised a Blues and Roots Benefit to be held in The Blue Lamp on Sunday 11th. March from midday to 11.30pm.
The Head Shaves will take place at the event.
Entry to the event is £5.00 on the door with all proceeds going to the Charity
Raffle prizes are actively solicited and can be handed in to The Blue Lamp marked for Macmillan.
Chilli c/w Wrap and Stovies c/w Oatcakes and Beetroot will be on sale during the day
There will be non stop Blues and Roots music throughout the day with a Ceilidh to end the night.
Entry will be limited by fire regulations so come early to avoid disappointment
