Our most prestigious concert to-date for which we are expecting a big turn out. The”King of South London Blues” STEVE MORRISON travels north to take the Potteries Blues Club stage & play some of his masterful blues. Steve appeared as a finalist (& the only blues representative) on the Sky Arts TV Show “Guitar Star” where his music & the atmosphere engendered were outstanding.
He has played guitar all his life. The exploration of guitar music from such an early age has created a musician whose performances appear effortless and natural. He is a master of open-chord tunings and he has a bottleneck technique that is fluid, sweet and original.
“Steve Morrison blends the driving rhythms of John Lee Hooker with the sweet slide-guitar of Ry Cooder to create a sound all
his own. In a better world this man would already be a legend.” – (Musician Magazine)
Support is by one of the most influential of Potteries female singer-songwriters GILLIE NICHOLLS who has a number of solo albums to her name & a vast reputation from gigging with jazz, rock & folk bands in this area & from her time as a member of The Albion Band. For this concert Gillie will be accompanied by MARTIN BELL who is without question one of the most accomplished steel-strung acoustic guitarists in central & northern England. The duo will be giving their highly original take on bluesy/jazzy material.
